This course will address the following main questions: (i) what are the opportunities of AI in public administration? (ii) What challenges, if any, do member states face in using AI in public administration? (iii) How to establish trustworthiness and human centricity as cross-cutting principles to respect lawful and safe use of AI? (iv) How to manage the implementation and integration of AI in public administration with regard to EU regulations and fundamental principles?

Objectives

During this course, participants will become familiar with the implementation and challenges of AI in public administration. The seminar will focus on the risk and opportunities of AI innovation in government services.

Target group

Legal professionals, civil servants, digital transformation officers in the public sector, lawyers specializing in public and technology law.

Methodology

This online course is conducted in a mix of presentations, interactive exercises, case studies and trainer-led discussions. The power point presentation will be complemented by additional information such as links to sources of information. Finally, aside from the time foreseen for Q&A, the participants will be regularly asked for their cooperation and input in the course through answering via the poll function to pre-defined questions on key points presented by the trainer.
